Pakistan’s large rural population faces a severe lack of adequate health care facilities, and ICI Pakistan Ltd. has always made efforts over the years to combat this serious problem.

Winnington Hospital Khewra (زندگی صحت کے ساتھ)

Our Soda Ash Business has been running the Winnington Hospital in Khewra that not only caters to our employees but also looks after any walk-in patients from the local community. Our hospital offers free routine OPD, free accident and emergency service round the clock, and free medical screening for the community.

 LRBT Eye Clinics (زندگی صحت کے ساتھ)

We started our monthly free eye clinic program at Khewra in collaboration with the Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT) in May 1991. Every month, this camp provides free eye checkups for over 450 people from the community and conducts nearly 50 surgeries. We also have a free weekly out-patient department facility where an average of 300 patients are examined and treated every month. So far 140,873 patients have benefited from this facility. That includes A total of 14,988  surgeries, and 22,961  refractions were done for the Khewra and surrounding communities till June 30, 2015.

Blood Donation Camps (زندگی صحت کے ساتھ)

Our Life Sciences Business initiated a country-wide blood donation drive in collaboration with the Fatimid Foundation. Two separate blood donation camps were organised, in which over 200 employees donated blood.

Aga Khan University Hospital volunteer activity (زندگی صحت کے ساتھ)

Our colleagues in Karachi got a chance to get involved with young patients at the Pediatric Ward at Aga Khan University Hospital. Fifteen employees volunteered to spend quality time with patients. The interactive activities included our employees making craft items for the children, such as animal masks for them to wear, and colorful pompoms to decorate their wards. Guitar players also entertained the children and their parents. The children were given small gifts, and there were also books available for story-telling, drawing, colouring and jigsaw puzzles, as well as board games to play. After the activity was over, our employees met with representatives of the AKUH team including Nadeem Mustafa Khan, COO. Both our volunteers and the AKUH team felt positively about the event.

Volunteer Activity at National Institute of Child Health, Karachi (زندگی صحت کے ساتھ)

Our Life Sciences team decided to bring some joy to the children who were compelled to spend Independence Day in hospital due to their illnesses.  In this regard we chose the National Institute of Child Health (NICH). Following the flag hoisting ceremony on the NICH ground, the team then went to the children’s ward, which had been beautifully decorated. Numerous activities were arranged for the children, such as a magic show, a colouring competition and a sing-a-long. The director of NICH joined in for the cake- cutting ceremony and thanked our team for their time and efforts. Sweets and gift bags were distributed to the children.

Medical camps (زندگی صحت کے ساتھ)
Our Life Sciences team set up 15 medical camps in flood-affected areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including nine veterinary camps for flood-affected livestock. The Foundation also organised a medical and veterinary health camp for villagers at Rahim Yar Khan. 400 people were treated for various diseases, including anemia, chest and throat infections, worm infestation and joint pain.
Our pharmaceuticals team also offered essential help thrugh providing medical care to those affected. Along with this, four veterinary camps at T. M. Khan, Umarkot, Badin and Kario were set up, where approximately 12,000 animals were treated.
